FARMINGTON, Mo. -- There have been several bright young stars rise into the sprint car ranks at the St. Francois County Raceway in recent years, but none have caught the attention of the fans as much as 17-year-old Tiffany Wyzard of Williamsville, Ill.

Not only has teenage girl become noteworthy because she is the only female sprint car racer at SFCR, in the past couple of weeks she started making history. First on May 21st she because the first female to win a sprint car race at SFCR when she won the "B" main, then this past week (June 4th) she put the huge crowd on its feet as she won her first heat race, edging out track champion Joey Montgomery for the victory.

"The place came unglued," laughed track photographer Fred Harl. "The people just love her. She's such a breath of fresh air and the kids really take to her."

Shortly after Wyzard's win, there was a stoppage in the program that allowed track officials to bring the teenage beauty to the front straight so she could be interviewed in front of the biggest crowd of the season.

"That was a lot of fun, I really liked it," Wyzard said.

"You would have thought a huge rock star was on hand," Harl said. "They packed around her after the interview just clamoring for autographs. She handled it all like a pro. What a great future she has ahead of her."

Tiffany just graduated from Williamsville High School on May 22nd. She said her future goals are pretty simple.

"I plan on going to college at like Lincoln Land and keep on racing," Tiffany said. "At some time in the future I would like to run with the World of Outlaws."

Wyzard, daughter of Jim and Lisa Wyzard, started her racing career in 1995 at the age of eight-years-old in a quartermidget. She then moved on to a mini sprint and even drove a midget before moving this year into winged sprints.

"I've always wanted to race sprints," Tiffany said. "After five years of racing the mini sprints it was time to move up."
